Explore project →Compass Devs is an independent development studio creating games and apps for curious minds. From relaxing puzzles to practical tools, the goal is simple: build digital experiences that add a little more adventure, knowledge and enjoyment to everyday life.
Compass Devs began as a three-person idea around the first version of Rombicapo. The original iOS game reached working phones but never reached the App Store. Years later, the project was revived independently, rebuilt with Godot and eventually brought to both Android and iOS.
That release became the spark for more experiments: from 3D prototypes such as Road Roller and Jumpzy, to Cute Birds and practical marine tools born from engineering work. Over time the catalogue also expanded into other ideas, including tide utilities and AI-powered tools.
Today Compass Devs is an independent one-person studio, developed alongside a full-time engineering career and family life. Some projects are current, others belong to earlier generations of the portfolio, but together they document a continuing process of learning, experimenting and building.
The common thread has stayed the same: learn by building, solve a real need when one appears, and turn ideas worth exploring into working software. The technology and visual style continue to evolve, while the Compass Devs identity remains centered on exploration, practical creativity and independent development.

The next evolution of the 2048-inspired project previously released as Mergeify.
Tile Squared continues the ideas explored in the earlier Mergeify project, taking the familiar number-merging puzzle format in a refreshed direction. It is being developed as a cleaner, more distinctive Compass Devs puzzle experience, with its own identity and room to evolve through new themes and presentation.
More artwork and final gameplay details will be added here as the new release takes shape.
The game that started the Compass Devs journey, rebuilt with a modern visual direction and new features.
Rombicapo is the project at the beginning of the Compass Devs story. The first version started as a three-person iOS game and reached working phones, although it was never published on the App Store. Years later the idea was revived independently, rebuilt with Godot and brought to Android and iOS.
Rombicapo 3.0 represents the next major step: a modern rebuild that keeps the puzzle-game roots while updating the presentation, technology and overall experience. The videos below preserve a look at Rombicapo 2.0 and its earlier gameplay.
A colorful Match-3 bird puzzle adventure with progressive stages, changing themes and a playful world map.
Move through a sequence of themed stages, match the birds and continue across a playful world filled with changing environments and characters.

A working mobile 3D prototype driven by device motion sensors.
Road Roller is one of the experimental 3D projects created during the Compass Devs journey. It became a working mobile prototype built around direct, motion-driven interaction and the challenge of translating device movement into a simple playable experience.
The project remains part of the studio archive as an example of learning through experimentation. Additional original material can be added here if it is recovered.
A vertical action prototype with completed mechanics and sample levels.
Jumpzy is a colorful vertical action prototype built around launching a character upward through a playful world. The project reached a working state with completed mechanics and sample levels, making it one of the more developed experimental games in the Compass Devs catalogue.
Its bright artwork and character-driven presentation capture a period when Compass Devs was experimenting with different mobile game styles beyond puzzle games.
Live tide-gauge information and tidal predictions delivered from a backend to mobile devices.
TideLive grew from practical marine and engineering needs. The system was designed around a backend that manages tide-gauge information and a mobile frontend that makes live and predicted tidal information easier to view in the field.
The tutorials on this page show both sides of that workflow: the frontend used to access tide information and the backend used to manage the data behind it.

Worldwide predicted tides with fast station discovery and practical tide information.
OmniTides brings worldwide predicted tide information into a mobile interface designed for quick station discovery and everyday use. The app lets users begin by adding a station, search nearby stations using GPS, or browse stations manually by continent and list.
The project carries forward the marine-software side of Compass Devs: taking experience gained from practical engineering work and turning it into a more approachable mobile tool for finding and exploring tide stations around the world.

The expanded OmniTides experience with additional station-discovery tools and a broader tide, weather and lunar toolkit.
OmniTides Pro expands the OmniTides concept for users who want more ways to discover tide stations and explore environmental information. Stations can be selected through GPS, nearby-station maps, lists or random discovery.
The original project screens also document the wider toolset around the selected station, including weather conditions, lunar information, tide curves and application settings. The gallery below follows the order of the original material supplied for the project.

An AI chat project exploring conversational assistance, questions, image generation, languages and history.
ChatZap was a Compass Devs exploration of conversational AI in a friendly mobile format. The app combined general chat with guided questions, learning-oriented prompts, image generation, conversation history and multilingual support.
Its design aimed to make different AI capabilities easy to discover from a single home screen, with light and dark themes and support for ten languages. The original promotional material below documents that release.
